REVIEW // KAT VON D BEAUTY LOCK-IT FOUNDATION, BRIGHTENING POWDER & TATTOO LINER

I just went on a little weekend trip to London and it was so refreshing. I planned my days out to catch up with my friends and fitted in some Oxford Street shopping. Going into Debenhams and seeing the new Kat Von D stands was more exciting than I had anticipated.

As you may know from my previous Kat Von D post, I raved over how much I love her amazing Liquid lipsticks. So during this trip, I went and added to my lipstick collection and also got my hands on her Lock-it Foundation and translucent powder so that I could have a full face makeover.

I'm all about the nudes at the moment (and who else isn't?). These creamy formulas glide over like a gloss and set to a matte finish. Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are packed with natural moisturisers, including Vitamin E and Sunflower Seed Wax. I find some shades dry my lips out and others don't, so I haven't decided if it's shade specific or the state of my lips that day.

The shade 'Bow N Arrow' is definitely a fave of mine, and it's also a really popular one. It is a fawn brown nude, which is darker on my skin tone and gives my lips a warmth to them. It is a cult classic and was forever selling out. They now come in a mini along with their trooper liner as a little kit (handbag/purse size dreams). I already have 'Lolita II', and love it so much, so I had to also get the original 'Lolita' which is now my new obsession. It's so beautiful! The pigment is is a warm chestnut rose colour with a matte finish. 'Double Dare' is the third liquid lipstick that I got and it is described as a cocoa blush. I think it has more terracotta and pink tones to it. Wouldn't it be dreamy if we all owned 28 of the to-die-for shades.

I also got a classic Studded Kiss Lipstick. Each long-wear, pigment-rich lipstick is formulated with Color Cushion Technology™ to keep your pout feeling comfy and velvety soft. So if your a fan of traditional application and a sweet smelling formula then you will love these. I chose the shade 'Lovecraft' a matte mauve pink nude. (Which photographed a lot darker than it is in real life here.)

I love the fact that Kat Von D designs all her packaging herself. It makes you feel like you're buying and supporting your best friend's makeup line. The care and effort that goes into the concepts and final products is what makes the brand so strong. And if you didn't already know, her brand is 100% cruelty free and vegan, another huge to reason support it.

With a good winged eyeliner being Kat's signature look it's no surprise the liquid eyeliner has gained a cult following. The tattoo liner in 'Trooper' has an amazing brush like nib. Perfect for getting those thin flicks. I got the full size one as I have her mini version. It's so easy to apply and comes out jet black and dries really nicely. It's formula is long lasting so you can slay throughout the day.

I have wanted to try the Lock-it Foundation for a while now and I chose the shade 'Cool 44'. It is such a good match for my skin tone as it has red tones in it. The Makeup Artists in the shop are so friendly and helpful. You can ask them loads of questions about the makeup and they can help pair you up with a foundation shade that suits you. I also got my sister one in the shade 'Light 42' and it seems to be a really good match for her paler skin tone.

I get really oily in the T zone area so I decided to get their translucent powder to compliment the foundation. At the moment it's the only powder they have but apparently they're working on new pigmented formulas. This powder is claimed to work on all skin tones, and if you like to 'bake' with your powder under your eyes, then this is perfect for that. If you take some powder between the tips of your thumb and middle finger, you can feel the smoothness of the formula (which amazed me on first touch).

I have been applying the Lock-it foundation with a damp beauty blender after moisturising my face. If you like a full face coverage, then I highly recommend this foundation. It literally looks like you're covering your face with a face mask at first, which might be daunting if you are used to a light coverage. After you've blended and applied your contour/blush/bronzer (what ever you like using) you begin to look normal with a full on amazing makeover.

In the video tutorial below, I am wearing the Lock-it Foundation in 'Cool 44', with the translucent powder to set on top. I used different products to highlight and contour my cheeks as I have yet to get her 'Shade and Light' face contour palette! I am wearing eyeshadow from the 'Shade and Light' eyeshadow palette, topped off with a flick of Tattoo Liner in the shade 'Trooper'. To finish the look, I am wearing the 'Bow N Arrow' Everlasting Liquid Lipstick on my lips.
