This is a collaboration with fashion photographer and stylist Rebecca Elizabeth Tate. A fashion editorial shoot inspired by the director Wes Anderson and based on a character called Margot Tenenbaum from his film The Royal Tenenbaums (2001).
We carried out three model test shoots for this project which enabled us to choose the right model for the final shoot and for me to learn from each test what works best for the model in terms of makeup, hair and styling. This gave me a lot of preparation and knowledge for what was to be expected from the final outcomes. Rebecca and I discussed the test shoots and my makeup designs thoroughly in order to collectively decide on what designs would look best on the model and the shoot.
I found the theme we chose for this project both inspiring and creative. I have really enjoyed collaborating with Rebecca on this project as we have both understood creatively what we want to achieve from each other to reach the true potential of the project. The art direction was enjoyable and working along side Rebecca was both insightful and rewarding. We developed our vision with Rebecca's styling boards which gave us ideas to develop the looks and provided me with more creativity. Once we sent the images off to an editor we worked together to direct the edit until we were satisfied with the quality of the final edited images. I am really pleased with how they came out and think that the research and context behind the shoot is noticeably presented. This project has established my hunger to work on more fashion editorial spreads in the future.
